My experience is that people were spelling the name both ways for a time. However, all of the mugs and steins I have seen were marked "Pittsburg."Jack Sullivanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01499431800088809848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4158406346037964376.post-39099716580925334522021-11-05T13:45:09.407-07:002021-11-05T13:45:09.407-07:00I have the F.D. My computer crashed in May 2015 and it has taken me a long time to get things back together. Glad you like my blog. From time to time the Alex Library has programs related to Prohibition. By the way, I live close -- next to Inova Hospital. I wanted to thank you for your 2010 "Hunting for Hugo Thuemler" post -- it was quite interesting and informative.

I perused much of your blog. As a history and alcohol buff, I found your interests and articles entertaining. My collecting predilections run towards items related to prohibition, of which I have a small collection.

I noticed you live in Alexandria; I do also. I live near Braddock and Russell Roads. If you're aware of activities in the area related to historical collecting related to liquor and prohibition, please do let me know.

I look forward to reading more of your writings.

Anthony Smith, smith1080@gmail.comUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11332721690589186270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4158406346037964376.post-39787809058758280292014-12-20T12:14:23.441-08:002014-12-20T12:14:23.441-08:00Dear Dunganbits: I am so sorry to be so tardy in ...Dear Dunganbits: I am so sorry to be so tardy in responding to you but I did not get the initial email and that computer crashed. I have owned this mug for about 20 years and never knew what I had until I checked the makers mark recently out of curiosity. Now that I see what a treasure it is I’d love for someone who collects to get the enjoyment from it that it deserves. The makers mark identifies it as being made between 1898 and 1901.
I will post it on ebay this evening if you know anyone who may be interested. Thank you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
